Architectural Principles for Social Influence among Benevolent Agents
Benevolent agents with a high level of autonomy can be designed to be aware of their social influences in order to make sure the overall missions are successful. Additionally, the system of social influences can be engineered to meet the designer’s objectives of predictable agent behavior. In this paper we outline a few agent architecture principles for such agents.

The purpose of this study is to present a systematic analysis of the long-term behavior of the agents of an artificial society under varying payoff functions in finite neighborhood binary games. By assuming the linearity of the payoffs of both cooperating and defecting agents, the type of the game is determined by four fundamental parameters. By fixing the values of three of them and systematic...
متن کاملGodseed: Benevolent or Malevolent?
It is known that benign looking AI objectives may result in powerful AI drives that may pose a risk to the human society. We examine the alternative scenario of what happens when universal goals that are not human-centric are used for designing AI agents. We follow a design approach that tries to exclude malevolent motivations from AI’s, however, we see that even objectives that seem benevolent...
متن کاملCurrency Systems for Efficient and Equitable Exchange Among Selfish Agents in the Air Traffic Management Domain
We study collaboration among selfish agents in the air traffic management domain, in particular in the tactical airport planning domain. Collaboration can be seen as a social exchange scenario, in which the efforts of performing tasks are the resources that are being exchanged. We investigate the use of money as a facilitator for distributed social exchange. We give conditions under which a mar...
متن کاملInsidious dangers of benevolent sexism: consequences for women's performance.
Four experiments found benevolent sexism to be worse than hostile sexism for women's cognitive performance. Experiments 1-2 showed effects of paternalist benevolent sexism and ruled out explanations of perceived sexism, context pleasantness, and performance motivation. Experiment 3 showed effects of both paternalist and complementary gender differentiation components of benevolent sexism. Benev...
